Call for Writers

Are you a freelance writer with insiders’ knowledge of Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket? Are you passionate about promoting the Islands to potential visitors? Can you offer compelling insight beyond what can be found in traditional travel guides? 

If you answered “yes,” The Steamship Authority would love to hear from you!  We’re seeking talented writers to contribute to our soon-to-be-launched new website. The site will offer a new range of content dedicated to visiting Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Topics will include food and dining, accommodations, shopping, attractions, events, outdoor recreation, and arts and culture.

This is an opportunity to contribute bylined articles on an ongoing basis. Blog posts will be between 300 and 350 words. Writers who are able to shoot high-quality professional photographs in conjunction with their pieces can additionally contribute those images by agreement; otherwise, photographs will be sourced by the Steamship Authority. It is not a requirement that writers also be able to provide photographs with their article, but the topic should lend itself to a readily available visual component.

• Your required lead time for writing assignments
• Which Island you are interested in covering
• Any specific topics you’re interested in covering
