Position Overview:

The Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce (MVCC) is seeking a dynamic and organized Information Specialist & Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director and MVCC team. This individual will play a critical role in managing information requests, assisting with communications, and supporting the overall administration of the Chamber. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks, and a passion for promoting the vibrant local economy and tourism of Martha’s Vineyard. Must have in depth knowledge of the island and reside on Martha’s Vineyard.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries from members, local businesses, and tourists, providing timely and accurate information on Chamber services, island events, and business resources.
  • Maintain and update the Chamber’s information databases, including member information, local resources, and tourism materials.
  • Assist in gathering and disseminating information about Chamber programs, transportation options, tourism trends, and business developments to members and the community.
  • Create and update information materials such as brochures, newsletters, and fact sheets.
  • Manage and respond to inquiries via phone, email, and social media.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Executive Director and other senior staff members, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing reports.
  • Assist in organizing events, including the annual State of the Island event and other Chamber-sponsored activities.
  • Draft and edit communications on behalf of the Executive Director, including emails, letters, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with external partners, media, and stakeholders for various projects and events.
  • Support the Chamber’s internal operations, including financial documentation, meeting minutes, and office management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an administrative or information management role, ideally within a nonprofit, tourism, or Chamber of Commerce environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of the Martha’s Vineyard community, tourism, and local business environment is required.
